Using Biscu.com to Backup your Data
Free Internet storage has many advantages
over traditional forms of storage. In this article we
will compare free internet storage to CD-based storage
and tape backups.

Both CD and Tape-based backup solutions
require proprietary hardware. This hardware can be very
expensive. It is not at all unusual for a CD-R or tape
backup drive to cost as much as an entire year of free
internet storage and that doesn’t include the cost
of drive installation, the cost of CDs or the wages
for the personnel that needs to swap them daily.
Tape backup media can be as expensive
as $40 to $100 per cassette, almost as much as the drive
itself! This is partially recouped by the fact that
you can overwrite the cassette every time you back up
your data. But the practice of overwriting one backup
with another is dangerous. What if the cassette becomes
corrupted during backup? This is not a stretch;
tape backup cassettes are made from vinyl, an inherently
instable material prone to heat damage, magnetic damage,
water damage, chemical breakdown, stretching and even
jamming. Experts recommend using six cassettes and swapping
them at each backup. CD media is significantly less
expensive but cannot be overwritten, resulting in wasteful
usage.
Neither tape drives nor CD-R drives
will encrypt your data so anyone who gains access to
the media can steal your data. Biscu free internet storage
is guaranteed secure. Our data centers are housed in
a location secured against unauthorized access, earthquakes,
fires and even floods. Further, we use state of the
art hacker detection, firewalls and hacker risk management.
One of the biggest disadvantages to
physical removable media such as CDs and Tapes is that
they need to be swapped between backups. This makes
automation difficult and costs money (human intervention
means employee wages).
With free internet storage, you data
can be accessed worldwide, 24 hours a day, 7 days a
week. You don’t have to ship cassettes around, worry
about cassettes getting lost in some warehouse or making
a trip between offices physically carrying around your
companies sensitive and critical data. Just log on and
download anytime and anywhere.
Biscu.com free internet storage services
store your data offsite. What good is the tape cassette
if it burns along with the computers it was intended
to back up?
Automation is easy with Biscu.com but
very difficult with CD-R and tape backup solutions,
both of which require media swapping between backups.
Consider this: The more often you back up your data,
the less data you loose when something goes wrong. If
you can’t automate that process, the cost of backing
the data up increases exponentially as the interval
decreases.
Employees are expensive. You might already
have a network administrator who could spend his take
playing disc jockey, but wouldn’t his time be better
spent making sure the network is working?
